Why we started EU Move Assistant

We are Patricia (Tries) and Ludovic, a couple in our fifties who decided to leave The Netherlands behind and start a new chapter in Cyprus in 2025.
‍
At first, we thought moving abroad would be as simple as shipping our belongings and booking a flight. The reality was very different. Bureaucracy, endless paperwork, unclear rules, and the constant question of “Who can actually help us?” quickly made the process overwhelming. On top of that, we were moving a small company with us—which only added more complexity.

Our accountant offered support, but it came at a high price, and still much of the work landed on our own shoulders. After countless forms and frustrating detours, one thing became clear: there had to be a better way.

That’s why we started this project. What began with our own move to Cyprus grew into a bigger mission: making it easier for anyone to move across borders without drowning in red tape. We began with one country, then realized the challenges are the same everywhere. Why not create solutions that work for all of Europe—and eventually, beyond?
